Our favourite Books,  for under 5's

Here at the Jubilee Nursery we love reading with the children in our care. Below are some great books to read with your under 5's

  • The tiger who came to tea- This book makes us laugh at what may happen if a Tiger came to tea.
  • Dear Zoo- This book is a firm favourite and we really like the lift flap version where the children can guess what animals are under the flaps.
  • Where the Wild Things Are- This book is all about imagination and sailing away to a far away land where the wild things are.
  • Dogger- This book explores losing a favourite toy and then finding it again.
  • The Very Hungry Caterpillar- This colourful Story book explores what happens after a caterpillar eats lots of food and grows into a brightly coloured butterfly.

Nursery

The home of family childcare
Ohana means family, and we’d love to take care of yours!

Jubilee Nursery is located inside the Jubilee Pavilion, in the beautiful grounds of St Dunstan’s College. We are delighted to have been assessed as an Outstanding provider by Ofsted, which reflects our drive to provide a stimulating and caring environment for children that supercharges them for their future learning experiences.

The nursery has four main rooms (spread over two floors), each assigned to a different age group. We also have an enclosed garden area and access to the Pavilion playing fields, which adds up to a rich environment for both learning and playtime.

Safety is one of our top priorities and we are very proud to have been awarded the Millie’s Mark accreditation by the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) in association with the Department for Education and Millie’s Trust. This recognises us as a setting that goes above and beyond in meeting Paediatric First Aid requirements by having the whole nursery team trained, rather than nominated individuals.

Why Choose My Ohana Jubilee?

Our curriculum

My Ohana has developed its own exclusive science-based curriculum that has been inspired by the work of some of the greatest minds in education (along with the experience and expertise of our own people) and benchmarked against Development Matters and Birth to 5 Matters. While our daily programmes are always well prepared, our child-led ethos means that any activities end up where the children take them, sparking even more excitement, creativity and conversation.

Our people

Our approach

We believe that we can make the biggest difference to a child’s early development by working hand-in-hand with their parents and carers. Together, we can supercharge their future in school, work and the wider world. After all, our early childhood experiences help to shape most of what makes us ...well, us! We promise to work with you in a caring partnership to nourish every aspect of your little one’s wellbeing, encompassing their minds, bodies and understanding of the world. We call it their wholebeing.

Extra activities

These are offered alongside our three core enrichment programmes: myHappymind, the Nursery Library and Outdoor Learning.

Each week, all age groups take part in one of our Bilingual Beats classes. This is a 30 minute interactive Spanish music session led by a native teacher-musician. The Bilingual Beats classes involve the teacher playing live music and giving the children the chance to try a range of instruments. As well as being fun and engaging, the classes help the children to develop their music and language skills.

Our ethos

Children are complex characters who learn by processing and making sense of their many different experiences. Their learning is therefore not compartmentalised. In recognition of this, our ethos involves nurturing the child’s ‘wholebeing’, which we see as being made up of three pillars: Mind, Body and World. In practice, this means we work hard to create a learning environment in which the children feel free to explore, think for themselves and express their thoughts (Mind). We lay the groundwork for future healthy lifestyles, using routine and repetition to form good habits (Body). And we help to raise their awareness of different people, places and ways to live (World).

What we value most

Family is a big deal for us – because when it comes to raising and nurturing children, we’re all in this together. You want the best for your child, and so do we. In fact, we can’t think of a more important job than the work we do. So you can be sure we will do all it takes to rise to the challenge, with energy, enthusiasm, clear communications and that all-important teamwork approach.

What the children say…

Nutrition

We work closely with our caterers to ensure the children in our care eat healthy, well-balanced meals, while accommodating any dietary needs, choices or special requirements. We rotate our menus regularly to make the best use of fresh seasonal ingredients and serve a range of dishes from around the world to introduce the children to new tastes, textures and flavours.

What our parents say

Elsa T (Mother of Child)

My daughter attended The Jubilee Nursery from January - September 2018 and we were absolutely delighted with the nursery and the standard of care on offer.
The rooms are beautifully set up, equipped to an extremely high level and the staff are second to none.
The combination of indoor and outdoor space is lovely. The children have a varied routine of activities, including trips to local shops and a local care home. The range of activities is very stimulating and educational. My daughter has thrived.
The food is also exceptionally good, as we can attest to having been invited to several lovely parties over the months.

Suzanna W (Mother of Child)

My son has been at The Jubilee Nursery since May, he settled at the young age of 8 and a half months. All staff are welcoming and very kind towards new parents. My son bonded really well with his Key worker and surrounding staff. The nursery rooms are bright, airy, clean and well resourced. I really like the routine and enjoy that the young babies get to go out in the garden and go on outings in the turtle bus. The safety of the nursery is very reassuring and eased some of my anxieties.

My son is well fed as the menu has a wide range of foods, puddings and children are offered fresh water at all times.
The nursery management are very very helpful with the paperwork side, financial advice and always friendly on arrival and leaving the building.
Looked at several nurseries in the area beforehand and none compared to The Jubilee! Excellent nursery and worth every penny!

J P (Mother of Child)

Jubilee Nursery is an exceptional and caring environment where I have complete confidence in leaving my son. The team are excellent and my son loves all of the team. He has flourished during his time there. His development is catered for and every need. The staff are amazing and genuinely enjoy and provide amazing care for my child. I recommend to everyone this nursery. Great staff and management. Oh the food is great.

Amy J (Mother Of Child)

Such a nice nursery. Staff are brilliant, the rooms are big, bright, clean and have lots of activities. The garden is huge and the children get supervised access to the fields for activity sessions like playing in the snow or searching for wildlife. The food is so tasty and fresh. Everything about this nursery is brilliant.

E M N (Mother of Child)

The Jubilee Nursery has been a lovely nursery for our boy. He started there at 11 months, and settled very quickly compared with another nursery we tried first. The care from the staff is exceptional. Everyone who works there seem genuinely to care about the children. Our boy is extremely happy and cared well for there.

The rooms are all lovely light and airy - with plenty of different toys and activities. The garden and access to outdoor space is also incredible. A large outdoor space which is covered, but the nursery also has access to the cricket fields for going on 'teddy bear picnics' for example.
The food comes from St Dunstan's college and is delivered 2/3 times daily - all freshly cooked and it looks really wholesome. Our boy has food allergies and the nursery has been really good at taking care of this aspect of his diet.
